Frequently Asked Questions
Should I slide my slide out room in over the winter season?
Winterizing is a personal prefrence, depending on how late you camp into the Fall season. What really determins the correct time is the weather. Once we get into consistant low tempratures or they are predicted your unit should be drained and winterized. More specifically, if it drops below freezing for more than a couple of hours, it is time to get the water out. Many RVers don't want to wait until there is a rush to get it winterize and bring the unit in once they are done with if for the season.
If you should happend to get caught with your unit not being winterized and there is a threat of freezing tempratures, we suggest a couple of things. First remove the drain plug of the water heater. A full water heater does not allow for the room needed when the water expands. Another thing that helps keep the lines above floor and faucets from freezing is running the furnace in the unit. The warm air radiates into the floor of the unit and ususally give you a couple of extra hours to play with.
